Not Jeep specific, but my second last system I went with a dual 8" setup vs a single 10". Never again. Great for "punchiness" but no real low bass out of them. My current is a single 10" and should I ever do a proper sub setup in the Jeep, I'd opt for a single 10" slim profile sub vs dual 8's, with the sub hanging off the rear gate.

Do you guys think it would be possible to fit a JL 10 W0 in the stock sub housing?

I just built a box for my polk audio db840dvc (8" inch) that sits behind the driver seat. It is not bolted down, as I like to keep it removable in case I need the storage. If I go somewhere that could cause my sub to bounce around, chances are I'm not going to be blasting my music and won't need it and can secure it somewhere else or take it out

Default Nice Advice

Glad to see this thread has some very useful information! Bought an Alpine CDE-126BT last night and also picked up the C2R-CHY4 adapter harness as well as the antennae adapter cable, all things listed as being required for install After reading most of what has been posted here I am not sure whether or not to use the harness or just take it back and save $200. I don't have the amp or sub in my JK and do not plan on adding either of those down the road.

Any pics of the installed replacements you guys have, post 'em up! Would like to see how they turned out.

A few different people at a couple different stereo shops say no chy4 necessary in adding after market amp and HU and wiring. After giving it a lot of thought, it makes total sense. All new = no need for factory harness.
I just got the last of my stuff in the mail today so I'm going to be diving in here directly; maybe as soon as I sign off here. First step, find a home for amp. I'm thinking under passenger seat. That will be the shortest run for power.

If you are staying all factory except for head unit swap, you need the module, but not necesarily the chy4 and not necessarily from a retail store. Check the web and search for alternatives.

I've also upgraded the head unit , I have the factory amp and sub so I bought the chyah07 module . My problem is when in Acc mode the stereo works but when I start the jeep it is says no signal , when I go back to Acc it still has no signal?? I've racked my brain with the wiring and I have no idea! Any thoughts? Not much info on exact wiring on the "intraweb"!!!

Weird. The headunit might be faulty because it isn't recognizing signal yet it is the source player?

I was thinking it might be a ground issue or parking brake bypass issue ?

Do all source modes work normally untill you start the jeep? Does the unit power down when you start it up?
