My jeep came with the infinity system. Everything was changed out. Pioneer screen, two sets of jl c3 components, jl 10w1, jl 600/6 amp and I did not use a module. The only reason you need a module is if your still going to use the factory amp. I caught 12 volts and ground from the radio plug and switch power from the cig lighter.

I built mine from the ground up, not using one single factory wire. I did NOT need the module, but the radio will NOT dim with the oem dimmer lights, thats the only 'downside', which doesent bother me. I did the following

-Alpine 305S digital media
-Polk db Front components
-Alpine type R rears
-1 RF punch 3 12
-1 Capacitor
-1 Alpine amp
-1 Kenwood amp
-1 RF amp

Pretty mix-matchy I know, but I used a combo of what I had and new componets. I'd go top quality on the front components and something moderate for the sound bar. I dynomatted both the front speaker boxes and sound bar inside and out, its also sealed, and the rear still sounds bad IMO, but nice "filler" volume.

Tough to see in that pic, its a crappy one from my corner build, but in the back of the jeep is where my amps sit, all pre-amp wiring from the h/u to the back, then all new wiring from the back forward

This is true, but the module allows for steering controls if you have them and want to keep them (as well as dimming, reverse camera trigger, etc.). It also facilitates wiring if you are keeping any of the stock wiring/connectors. You don't need it, but it's nice if you want this. I used one when I swapped all the Infinity garbage out for aftermarket because I had already installed it when I previously just swapped the HU and kept the stock amp.

Here's a better pic of the setup I did, just a thought if your running multiple amps as there's not much room, its also hinged so you can get crap under it.

Great input. Thanks everyone. The top of the line pioneer components have a 1 1/8 " tweeter. A little to big I think. I have to step down one to the "A" series which has a 3/4" tweet. It also sounds like I shouldn't waste money on great soundbar pieces, just good ones?

I put in Alpine's with 1" tweets...just required some careful trimming of the pods with a dremel. Yes, money best spent on the fronts. I put some Kicker components in my sound bar, but I packed it with spray foam, then Dynamat. Some vibration still, but only at really high volumes.

I installed a aftermarket head unit in my bare bones jeep without a PAC. No problems what so ever.

You will only need the module if you have a factory amp and intend on using it. If not you will still need the SWI-CAN for steering wheel controls but your aftermarket amp will use the RCA's on the new head unit. If you don't have the Factory amp the simple pigtail will work to maintain sound throughout the vehicle.

As far as the tweeters go in the front, mine were too deep to fit in the housings so I just surface mounted them with the cone-shaped plastic thingy that came with them, I did keep them on the "tombstones" however.

I think I'm clear. No PAC and run a wire to the back of the "cigarette lighter" to get power?
