Default code reader

Does anybody in the long beach area have a code reader I could borrow to check my dash lights? Don't wanna pay almost a hundred bucks just to check the code. Haven't had any luck with the key trick to have the code display on the dash. Thanks in advance

go to most autoparts places and they will read the code off your vehicle for free. I do it like 20 times a day i work at an auto part place.

LB you have 5:13 gears ... you have a programmer? Most programmers are DTC readers too. Figured you would being you would want the Jeep to know it has 5:13's especially an auto... just a thought

Cant you do it by cycling from 'ON' to accessory 3 times, landing on 'ON'?

I did that to pull P0111 code for my CEL in mine a few days ago.

Edit: "Haven't had any luck with the key trick to have the code display on the dash." Oh, never mind...

No I wish I had a programmer but I haven't picked one up yet. None of the auto zones by the house will read it for free but they say that have a code reader that will read off just the code for $60 so I may just go bite the bullet there. Thanks for all the advice everyone. Wish the ignition trick worked on my JK
