Charge not getting to Battery

I disconnected everything. have continuity through alt cable.
now I have 13.6 v at batt and 14.2 at alt post and - batt terminal. (disconecting batt must have rebooted my computer? (must be Windows!))
Taking her out for a test run. (batt dash light is off now also.)
