Default CB antenna hood mount?

Hi all,

I'm looking for a CB antenna hood mount, and I have looked everywhere, but I can't seem to find one that will fit the JK. All I found is the Firestik one made for the TJ. Anyone know of one?

Hi Colin! NOT a problem. Just get an NMO roof mount with a 90 degree feedpoint connector on the bottom-end. You will also need to get an NMO style antenna to fit it though. This arraingment may look a bit goofy once it's actually installed though. They also make a bracket mount that fastens between the hood and the fender that isn't (A) As goofy looking and (B) doesn't require drilling a 7/8" hole in the center of your hood. We use them all the time on radio installs for Fire Chief's, etc. They work fine! Take care... Mike

Or consider using the passenger side windshield bumper hole in which to mount the NMO base! I prefer to use NMO since they are inherently water resistant when the antenna is removed. They can be made water proof with an inexpensive screw on cap. Regretfully I have never seen an 11 Meter antenna for NMO! If you find one, please post it here! The NMO is common for VHF and UHF Ham antenna.

I've already got a firestick antenna. Just bought it last night ...

I don't have my rear tire carrier anymore .... so where else could I put the antenna ... Hmmm ..

Just buy a magnet mount base. They work well.

Hey jkgirl, if you don't want to make your own you can look into the stainless one at CFE products...cfeproducts.com/jk-jeep-wrangler-antenna-mount.html...I have this mount and it comes with both stainless and nylon shims that fit behind the mount, where you use the stainless ones if you have the tire carrier mounted and the nylon ones if you don't.

hmmm possum. Sounds like if it was really bolted down that would've worked. Imay give that a try.

I took my rear tire mount off .... I have thought about a magnet base, it'd work great with my winch mount on the front, as my winch is upside down ... just the way it went on with the stock bumper manipulated .. but having the antenna in front of me ???

LOL! ROFL with it being on my hood. I may try it .. I know theres a nother threada that wants to see it ...
