To be able to help more, it would be nice to know what type of winch you are using.
If your controls are just simply activating reversing relays, what does the make and model have to do with it?

I installed the follwoing that shuts power off to the winch when not in use:

"The new automotive safety on-off switch allows you to turn off the power to your winch when not in use. The switch can be mounted inside the cab for easy access.

Features:

Shuts off power to winch from a switch located inside the vehicle cab
12 Volt and 24 Volt System

Shuts off power to winch (in-cab) 12V

Part # 282062"

Then I followed the direction in here to wire the switches:

A few slight mods later I have a system that has all the safety features, I wanted along with ease of control.

There is only one problem with having a dual control setup. If, and I realize that this is a big IF, But what if you were using the pendant control on the outside of the jeep. And you had the winch running in reverse. And someone in the cab decided to be cute and activated the forward control? You need some type of electrical interlocking device.

I understand what you are saying, but personally I think that is over kill. If I am not in the Jeep then it is not safe for anyone to be in my Jeep, so I not perceive this to be an issue. However, people will think other things that I have one are overkill. Each to his one.
