Default Can I run 4 ohm speakers from 6disc dvd/mp3 (REQ) Head Unit?

Sorry for the potentially 'dumb' post but I am in the process of getting my audio gear installed and wanted to install the speakers first before the amp etc as will be getting professional help for this final job, so will need to wait ....

I have a set of 4 ohm components for the front (with seperate tweeters and crossover etc) and 4 ohm coaxials for the soundbar and was wondering if it is possible to install these for now and run off of the stock HU until I get round to installing the amp etc and 'stock' Sub too?

If not, then thanks for advice in advance.

If yes, is it worth it, will I notice any difference for now, or is it just worth waiting until I can get the whole lot installed together??

Cheers for any help:-)

It is possible to install these and they will work, but your stock ones are 2ohms, so you will esentially be cutting the power output from your head unit in half.

Ok... thanks for the reply Littlejon.... I must admit, the stock units output is pretty poor already to be honest.

I don't really have it at stupidly loud volumes, but I'm wondering if installing the speakers will make a difference to the sound quality until I get the amp installed etc?

mmmmmm......

Cheers,
M.

Little john is correct but he forgot to mention that with the added resistance your head unit will create a lot more heat. Impeadance missmatching causes alot of problems. You will probably end up getting the transistors located your driver amp in the HU so hot they burn up and stop working. I wouldn't even bother just wait till you get the new HU.
