Default Best Alarm System for a JK?

What's the best alarm system that's compatable with the factory installed car alarm that comes with the JK?

I'm definitely looking to install something with an interior motion detector....

Who did you put in?

Thank you in advance for your help!

Thanks Malo! Been looking at the Viper and Hornet OEM add-on, but will look into Clifford too.

I've been doing so much research. Sigh. Even called Chrysler who just told me to ring a service manager at a local dealership which I did. He just said that they only deal with Chrysler products.

The best info I've found by far has been on this forum when I entered the search term "alarm."

audiovox/prestige is the only way to go IMO

Check out my JK resource thread if you are doing this yourself.

I went through this all a few months back. There is a dual stage shock sensor (EVSII I think) that you can add to the factory alarm but it is expensive, hard to install, and reports are that it does not work very well. I got a deal on an aftermarket Viper alarm. The way it is installed is that the factory alarm works independently from the Viper, but if the Viper arms or triggers it arms or triggers the factory alarm as well. So far I have been very happy with it other than the bulk of carrying the extra fob.

I installed the EVSII which is the factory alarm. I use mine different then most.
A good installer can get one key fob to do it all, from the info I have seen.
Personally thinking of getting a pager portion add on.
I leave my doors unlocked (soft top) and leave no valuables in the jeep, so when the low life petty thieves "check" my door it just opens right up and the alarm blairs....
Put three in jail just like that.!

I put Viper on mine. I don't remember the model# cuz I got it a year ago but it comes w/motion sensor too. Also you don't need a separate remote cuz you can use your Jeep remote. I haven't had any issues and it has worked great so far. Also you can adjust the sensitivity in it.

If you are looking for an anti theft device there is none better than ravelco. Google it. It doesn't do much for you in the way of motion detector though. There is nothing in my Jeep that I need to protect though, I just don't want the Jeep itself to disappear.

by putting in the viper, do they have to disable the stock alarm? does your jeep have the factory remote start? i'm told by a couple of places locally that i'd have to switch out my factory alarm for a new one to work & then my remote start won't work?????
