If you don't have lockpick or nav-tv or something like that, you won't be able to install it unless you have an aftermarket HU.

With the Mopar/Commander camera, the dealer has the "scan" the system to the the HU to look for the camera.

I have lockpick v.5...works like a charm.

If you bought the Cherokee Camera, and the supplied wiring instructions are anything like those for the Commander Camera, then the pinout details at the camera plug are in-correct.

The diagram shows pins 2, 3, 5 & 6 to be used. This should be pins 2,3,4,& 6. To add to the confusion, the plug will not accept pins into spots 4 & 6, and needs to be modified to suit.

It will still require a dealer starscan to activate.

That is not what it shows on the diagram fro the Cherokee backup camera. The diagram shows 4 wires at 1, 3, 2, and 6. But they are plugging into a 6 plug plug in. Does anyone know what color to color it goes to? I realize it will have to have a startscan from the factory but I just need to get the plugs right so when I do the startscan it works.

The back up cameras are easy to wire. There is a ground, and 12v positive, plus the video cable. I used a Coastaltech lockpick and a cheap ebay backup camera on my RER radio, easy install.

MYGIG LOCKPICK

I ran a 12v ground and positive plus the video cable from the head unit/ lockpick to the back of the jeep, and plugged it in. It is that easy. I am not sure why the audio shop is having a problem.
Do you know which model lock pick you have?

if you don't mind me asking, how much did the camera/ installation run you? I already have a display screen in my 14 jk.. No Nav, just the media center, I'd love to have the backup cam!

I don't see anywhere in this thread where the particular part number for the Grand Cherokee camera and wiring harness has been revealed. Has anyone worked this out? The pics Dave 7200 posted are the best I have seen on the web and include the distance lines. I note that the install of the camera is very clean and in this case interesting as I am of the understanding that the Grand Cherokee camera is not a hole cam but a housing cam. How did it get mounted as a hole cam?

SO please chime in if you have:
1) the part numbers used by Dave7200; and/or
2) have knowledge explaining the mounting of the camera in Dave7200's first pic.

Thanks!

Where did you ground and where did you get the positive (power) from? I've got the v3 and unlike the new v5 which gives you power right from the radio you have to splice into a 12v source

I found a listing on the Mopar parts site of Backup Camera Kit listed under a 2012 Jeep Cherokee as part # 82212110. In the drawing it shows a flush mount camera like the op has. Not sure if this is the same one or not.
