Default Back- Up Camera / GPS

I would like to add a back up camera but do not have the nav system in my Jeep. Does anyone make a GPS system that you can tie in a back up camera with? I have looked at Garmin but can't find one that says I can patch in a back up camera.

Any thoughts

Try magellan they have several options. You can also buy a 730n for a JK and add a lockpick (know you can do it, have not researched it)

I believe you can add a lockpick ($200-250) to any of the JK radios with a screen (doesn't need to have nav) to use with a backup camera.

I was in a hurry to get a backup camera working for a trip. I used a Magellan GPS that had a video input and a $30 camera, bought at Frys late one night. I would have just gotten a small lcd monitor, but they didn't have one. It worked nicely. I just used it for the camera, not GPS. Switching the function might be a hassle. Good luck.

Which Magellan did you use? I've been looking for a little 4 to 7 inch monitor to build into a pop-up and can't find one. Frys still doesn't have them - at least not the Burbank store, but they have a million GPS units.

Sorry, I don't have it handy to get the model number. It is a big one, at least 7 inches. It is wider than my 730n screen in the dash. I would have gone for something smaller, but it was there and my choices were limited. If you only need the video monitor function, I've seen lots of little LCD screens on eBay and such. This thing I have is one big puppy and would not likely be good for tucking away neatly.

Ok, thanks! I'll look into just the LCD, I was hoping to find something I could hold in my hand to evaluate building the pop-up for, but may have to go on-line.

I finally got my hands on it again, it's a Magellan RoadMate 1700. The screen measures 7". It is a wide format screen, very wide, not so tall.

Good luck with your project.
