There was a very slick solution I saw posted last year for adding auxillary switches/lighting. It had a switch panel that fit by the rearview and a very fit/finished looking box under the hood. Does anyone remember who it was made by? I can't seem to find the thread.

It is by far one of the slickest things i've ever installed on any of my cars.
It's is constructed well, looks stock, and is easy to install.

 

Very nice.

Yeah it is a little expensive, but it doesn't involve drilling a hole into any dash panel, also you only have to run the wires once through the firewall. Then just connect whatever you want into the pod.
