Default Aux input with factory stereo

Has anyone else had the problem with the AUX input on their stereo making a crunching sound while still playing the music.... If I jiggle the wire it gets better/worse. Yes, I have tried multiple new wires with the same effect.
Is there some quick fix or clean?

Where did you buy the cords? I've noticed the quality of the cords (mainly the connectors) vary widely. You may want to try one from someone like Monster Cable. A very loose rule is if it cost less than $10, it might be the issue. Assuming this is with an iPod: If you have an Apple Store nearby, try buying one there. Apple is pretty good about insisting the products in the store work perfectly with their devices. If its an iPhone, make sure you have the right connector. The 1st generation (silver backed models) had a longer than standard plug. There are adapters for this issue available (or cords with one longer plug.)

Sounds like a bad cable to me... and no need to get over priced cables, a simple stereo 8th inch to 8th inch cable from radio shack should work fine...

I've used the radio shack cables (2) and (1) $30 one from Best buy. All for the Itouch.

Do you have a lot of dirt, dust, and grit in the Aux port on the head unit? See if you can try giving it a swabbing with a small q-tip. The smaller the better.

i have an iphone 3GS, and i swabbed out the hole in the phone and it helped. I also bought a new cord but it seems like certain songs with a specific frequency i hear the crackling sound. I also noticed it when playing a burned cd. I would suggest trying to clean swab your headunit, and itouch.
