I thought of removing them, but they are modular and if you
remove one piece, you'll find it's connected to another piece...
and so on, and so on....what a freak'in mess.
I'm going to have to give this some serious consideration. I'm
thinking of raising the floor by 3 inches and making it,(the floor)
one large speaker platform. I have a hard-top so weather isn't
much of a concern, but I do load a couple of Dogs,(each weighs
about 90 lbs) into the back when I go camping or to the lakes.

The sound is good...I just want to be able to hear it from the
next mountain top....LOL!!!

Sorry for stepping on the OP's original post.
Do what I did and they will have no problem hearing you from the next hill... 4 mids, 2 tweets, and sub turn out an incredible amount of power and really good sound.

Just buy any 6.5 inch speakers you want and go to a place like crutchfield and you can get the new mounting brakets and a little plug and play adapter. I did this and put kicker KS series all around as well as crossovers and 2 12 inch kicker L7s, 1500 watt kicker amp, headunit, ect..

What are you trying to do with them that they need to get wet?

First things first. There really is no "water proof" speakers. Marine or not. So just get a decent set of anything with a poly "or non paper" cone and a butyl rubber surround. Buy some stainless steel screws and be done with it.

The whole "white plastic and stainless steel screws" thing that make a "marine speaker" is such a farce. The only real benefit of "marine certified" is for you're insurance company and it's policies for boats. Isn't gonna mean squat on a jeep.

Just my $.02 and 25 years of aftermarket audio experience. And.... Yes I am a marine audio dealer too. Marine audio just means more part numbers to inventory and option of white or black amps. Haha.
