A friend just put a set on last week. I have not seen then lit up yet... probably will tonight at a crab feed . He is lucky enough to not worry about $300 bucks and will probably have a better chance of backing into a car at Walmart than busting them on a trail so in his case a winner.
He did the 3rd brake light also.

3rd brake is already LED from the factory..

Do you have a thread about which LEDs to get? That sounds like a good idea just replacing the bulbs.

Same with the iPods... Couldn't cost more than $10 to make and they jack the price up to infinity and beyond.
