Default Anyone else find damage when removing 50" light bar mounts?

Removed my light bar yesterday to find what's pictured below. I'll leave the brand out of it for now, but needless to say I'm really bummed about this. The rubber gaskets were in place so I don't know how this happened.

Guess it only takes a little friction to damage the paint like that.
I have something similar but from fitting another prefilter to my snorkel.

Maybe things have changed since the old days BUT you don't sandwich parts together on body metal especially with a rubber isolator between them. It allows for moisture retention between the parts and independent motion. Google it or better yet...ask grandpa

Sucks that you didn't share that info with all the companies selling these brackets :/.

Not really. Just sucks that they don't know what their grandpas know. Just want his money...not his experience.
Add ons should be mounted to avoid sandwich installation on painted parts. Could those brackets not be screwed to the inside of the door frame and still allow functionality. Guess not if no one tries. Let's just bi-ch instead about....

Yup yup mr gargoyles is correct the rubber that the send to "isolate" is almost the exact texture of three thousand grit sand paper that body shops use for finish sanding clear coat before buffing. At the end of the day the price of cool ain't cheap!

Is there anyway to prevent this from happening?

I took off my license plate holder and it had the same type of paint damaged under it.
