That was my thought also when I looked at this. If I was to do this, I would just tap into the constant on 12Volt power adapter. Most garage door openers run off of a 9VDC battery. So alls you need to do is buy a 9Volt Zener diode and a resistor, wire those parts onto the +12volt B+ wire, connect those to the battery wire connections of the remote and you never have to worry about changing the battery.
Also by using the jeeps key on 12 volts as a power source you'd have to have the key on to open the door... Great idea!

2 wire hook up not a big deal I'm sure you can find someone to help you solder the wires in place. You need to be careful not to overheat the circuit board
