My guess is he installed leds under the air controls. There are a bunch of threads on this install. It looks like an easy install and looks great. I've been meaning to do this for a while.

The blue lights are a 10" LED strip bought from Auto Zone... got the idea form this site. Got lots of compliments this summer driving around at night with top down and doors off 
I think the thread was called "Center Console Black Hole" or something to that effect. Here's a question... do you think putting a blue neon bulb in the dome light would be over kill? All my windows are blacked out, so I am wondering how that would look....
