Default Aftermarket head unit vs stock head unit.

I am sorry for asking this question because I am sure it has been asked before I just cant seem to find the answer I am looking for. I currently have the stock base model head unit in my 2008 Jeep Wrangler X and I am wondering if upgrading to a better head unit will improve the loudness and sound quality of my system. The four main speakers are the Mopar kicker speakers with 90 watt rms and I also have a Infinity baselink sub woofer rated for 200 watt rms, the infinity is spliced into the four main speakers. Will switching the sub woofer over to a dedicated sub woofer output help with overall sound quality? If you guys feel that an upgrade would help what do you recommend as far as head units? I am not yet decided on single or double din so either or are welcomed and I think Bluetooth would be nice to have. Thank you guys! It will be nice to here your professional/experienced opinions.

yes it will. Your stock h/u doesn't have enough power to push your speakers/sub to their max potential. Aftermarket h/u's usually have more power and better equalizers. An amp is what will really bring it to life though

Thanks Mojave! I have heard this before as well however I do have the absolute base model head unit so maybe an upgrade will help.

Thank you rebel yell, would you recommend an amp over the head unit though? Like I said my subwoofer is currently spliced into my speaker wires rather than having a dedicated subwoofer output. Thank you for your advice

Amp, new speakers and stock head unit don't really go well together, I speak from experience. Sound quality was pretty bad. Ended up with sub, new speakers, headunit and sub. I have the speakers run off the Kenwood headunit and sub is powered from the amp. Got hosed on the deal between part cost and labor.

Thanks kh! So do you recommend a head unit? The sub I have is already being pushed by an amp and is a lot more powerful then my speakers lol.

An aftermarket head unit will allow you to fine tune the sub and speakers to get the best sound out of what you have. And it is made to power speakers that can handle more power (if that makes sense). I'm pretty clueless when it comes to audio, just sharing my experience.

Mine also has a USB input. Nice to charge phone while streaming pandora/ itunes and using GPS at same time. Also, you can put all the songs you want on a 32G thumb drive and shuffle thru 1000's of songs
