AEV Procal - old module worked on 2014 and now errors
So the short and sweet is that I purchased an AEV Procal 1.5 module advertised as working for 2011-2014 JKs. I checked the AEV site for confirmation and it mentions only AD/AE/AF/AG models are compatible (should be noted on the module itself). I didn't see a model # anywhere on the module, and per the AEV site, this likely means its either AA/AB/AC, and not compatible. With that said, we went ahead and tested it to confirm before the exchange of money. Set the DIP switches to disable the TPMS, plugged it in, and boom... 2 honks and the low pressure light went away. Flash forward 30 minutes. I measured my tires and set the DIP switches accordingly. Plugged it in and nothing. I kept getting the error code "Error in Vehicle ID -- The ProCal has encountered an unexpected error while determining the vehicle type and equipment. Make sure the vehicle’s ignition is ON and the vehicle is in a working state. Contact AEV if problem persists." I thought that maybe I just needed to reset something, so I set the DIP switches to restore settings and erase the VIN -- same error code. Though maybe resetting the ECU would do the trick, so I removed the (-) battery cable for about 10 minutes. Tried again and same error code. I haven't called AEV yet (east coast vs. west) but I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this? I've been offered a refund, but has the Procal stored my VIN and now not allowing me to reset the module? Any ideas or previous experiences?

Just got off the phone with AEV and they say the module is dead (4 flashes on the dash, pause, 2 flashes). Said this can be from humidity, static, etc. He was surprised that it even cleared my TPMS, as the module I have should never work on 2014. Can these things die that quickly??

AEV Procal - old module worked on 2014 and now errors
I just had one lock up on me after I cleared tit off my jeep to try it on a buddies jeep. It was a little over a year old. It was on a 2012 with gear change so my jeep went into 3rd gear default. I bought a new one and all is good now.

Yeah, the only thing I can hope for now is that it was a fluke that it initially worked to clear the TPMS, and that it is erroring out now because of incompatibility. Hoping to try it on a friend's 2011 to see. If we get the error, module is toast and I'm out $100. If no error and we can clear the VIN, I guess I got lucky.

if you are getting the 4 blinks-pause-2 blinks it will not work on anything. Aev was very irritating to deal with as far as customer service goes. My unit worked perfect for about six months then just died. AEV could not explain to me how or why this happens and would not replace the unit free of charge. Eventually they offered me another one at half price.

I had one for my 2 door 2010 model. Cleared the Vin before I sold it. Put to my 08 4 door work like a charm. Then when to set the tire pressure. Got 4-2 code. Called them and they said that the first ones that came out had a bug in them and was not clearing the first Vin number. But it was acting like it was. So they asked for my proof of purchase and for me to send mine back and they would replace it. Three days later I had a new one on my door.
