It's specifically designed to work with uconnect. For those of us with the non screen radios (I'm looking at you RES) we had to acquire a $230+ extra uconnect harness to then plug the iPod cable into. Granted I was able to negotiate both into the deal, but still, why do I have to have the hands free kit to listen to my iPod...and it turns out both the wife and I love the hands free!

However, it's typically a different cable for the other head units, so you'll want to poke around the mopar accessories website to make sure you get the right part number.

Can't really tell which particular model that is, and unfortunately there's about as many iPod cables as there are head units. Regardless though, the install is pretty straight forward, even more so for the screen units as you don't need to have the dealer Starscan your JK to recognize the uconnect.

Hit the mopar accessories website and look for the iPod integration cables and it'll ist which one will work with which unit...

Default Installation help

I have a 2008 JK 4 DR Rubi with the MyGig GPS system. I was told by mopar that the 82212000 cable was the one I needed for my iPhone 3G. But for the life of me I cannot figure out how to install both the iphone harness and the the mic. Both have the same adapter, but there's only one port on the back of the radio of that size. Mopars instructions arent very helpful and the dealer wants 180 bucks to do something I can do myself. Can anyone help me out on the install?

They told you wrong. The 82212000 is only for the non MyGig radios. For the MyGig you need 82211853, which runs about $75-80. It has the pigtails you need to plug both the cable and mic into the radio.

Don't forget Sim is also out of luck because he's got an 08 mygig and not the 09/10, which aren't iPod capable.

Good catch sir, I totally missed that...He's right on this. Unless you upgraded to an 09 or newer unit, you're SOL for the MyGig and iPod integration.

Default Ok then

I will follow up with a question about the mygig lockpick system. This is a feature ive been looking at getting for its various uses. One of its selling points is enabling uconnect for nav radios. Does anyone know how true this is for my 08 nav mygig radio, and is it compatible with iPhone 3g?
