6 CD radio unit installed and not working ??
Hey guys,
I just installed a used OEM 6 CD radio unit and the CD changer doesn't work. When I connected the wiring for the first time the changer made some noise for a few seconds and when I tried to load CD's it only goes in about an inch. Seems like something is blocking or the tray doesn't align. There's 2 male connectors at the back of the unit, the female connectors that was on the single CD unit only fit in the left one. So what could be the problem?

you should only be able to plug in the connector on the left side. When I first hooked mine up the changer took probably 20-30 seconds moving around doing its thing. Make sure when you load it you don't just cram a disk in there. You have to press the load button and then the button for the slot you want the disk to occupy (1-6).

I appreciate your help, keep the ideas coming !!! maybe I should try to find the instructions somewhere, maybe there's a sequence or something I'm missing

I would pull the plug out for a few minutes then plug it back in,let it get settled, then try again. It should load the disk no matter what it is. I am no expert. When I loaded mine all I had to do was press load then pick a number. It sucked it right in and then I heard it shuffling it around. I didn't pick cd or dvd it played automatically I think? Anyway I would try to unplug it and start from scratch. Are you sure that it works?

Locking the CD changer before shipping.
My JK came with a 6 disc, I upgraded to REN MyGig. When I was doing the swap I looked in the service manual. It said to put the changer into lock mode before removing it. There was a key combo to do this, I can't remember what it was. If someone has their manuals around look under the radio section and post that combo, maybe that can help this guy. If not I will look it up after work tonight. Dave
