2016 Jeep JK Stereo UPGRADE & 4 - 6.5” Skar subs under rear seats
I’ll try to make this short and sweet.
I have a 2016 a Hyper Green Sport JK. Stereo was HORRIBLE. Couldn’t hear anything with windows down. Below is a list of all upgraded items I decided to use, and let me tell you I Like my music LOUD. It’s obnoxiously LOUD, and I LOVE IT!!! Very Happy
UPGRADED LIST:
Head Unit:
SONY XAV-AX7000
- H/U is powering the 3.5” dash and Sound bar 3.5”
Speakers:
4 - 6.5” DS18 PRO-X6.4BM 2 ohm
4 - 3.5” DS18 Z-354 4 ohm
Amps:
Teramp DS1200x4 2 ohm
- used for the Lower Dash 6.5” and Sound Bar 6.5”
Teramp BASS 1200 1 ohm
- used for 4 - 6.5” Skar EVL-65 2 ohm
Subs:
4 - 6.5” Skar EVL-65 2 ohm
“wired to 1 Ohm”
Random things needed:
2 - under front seat amp racks off EBay
PAC LC-1 remote Amp knob
amp kit
rca splitters
2 way power / ground splitter
Polyfil for the Soundbar and 6.5” dash speakers
Rear sit recline kit
Sub box:
I was determined to TRY and build an under seat enclosure that would fit under my rear seats. There was a lot of trail and ERROR. I don’t make speaker boxes for a living, so I don’t know what it’s tuned to. I built it to fit perfectly under my seats. It isn’t pretty and I was going to carpet it and still may. I just sprayed a can “3 coats” of Black bed liner I bought from the auto parts store.
I was able to squeeze 4 Skar EVL-65 D2 2 ohm subs in the box, and be able to put the seats back down and bolt them down. I’ve only had the subs installed 2 days and still have some adjusting and tweaking.
Any questions ask. I didn’t want this to drag on! Thanks for looking!

I think I have to break these subs in a little more. On day 1 some low notes sounded horrible, but now they are sounding a little better. I didn't want a huge sub box in the trunk especially if I take the top and doors off in the summer. I didn't want someone to snatch and go with a sub box. My system without the subs is LOUD! No bass at all I have the bass all the way down on my head unit. Those DS18 6.5" and DS18 3.5 are insanely loud! Adding the subs is pretty loud as well. I'd say comparable to 2 12'' . Being able to take my top off and doors off and hit the interstate going 70mph I can still Jam out and hear everything crystal clear!! I'm not trying to win the loudest stereo competition. I just wanted to have a clean sounding system with 6.5" subs that take up no space. Let me know if you have any questions!
