2014 uconnect - phone book problem

2014 uconnect - phone book problem
Buddy fell in love with my 2009 and bought himself a 2014 with the RHB Nav touch screen, with uconnect.
The problem is, every time he goes through the system to load his phone book, it tells him it contains "invalid data" and fails.
There are no apostrophes, quotes, perens, ampersands, etc... In any names. Is there a specific way the phone numbers have to be formatted? Some contacts have email addresses and addresses... Does that matter?
Any and all help is appreciated! My 2009 doesn't have this head so I am clueless.

1) what radio does he have? Should be on the lower right corner of the radio face plate.
2) What phone does he have?
