Default 2014 Rubi with Alpine Premium, many audio questions.....

OK my friends, My wife took the 2012 sahara so I just got a 2014 rubi unlimited, the 2012 Sahara was an easy upgrade on the system because it had the 130 head unit so I just ripped it all out and replaced it all, however my rubicon has the factory 730 NAV and I would like to keep the head because of the free service and I like all the little things that come with it.

I have spent days pouring over the threads looking for my answers, but it seems there is just more on the older systems and not to much on the alpine.

So I have the following I want to install.
2 Pioneer Amps, one for 4 speakers and one for the subs
2 Pioneer 12 inch Subs
Clarion 7 Band EQ
4 component speakers

So basically I want to Tap into the head unit and get the line levels to feed the EQ which will control the fading options and of course fine tune my tone. Both my amps have built in cross overs so the EQ will be feeding both amps and I will let the cross overs do their jobs.

So my question, do I use a PAC to get the RCA outs or get a LOC and splice from somewhere else. Of course I would rather use the PAC as it would be easier, but not sure if they make one for the ALPINE system.

Any help I would appreciate.

Ok you asked, here are the three options and my recommendation.

LOCs - you are wasting you time by just amplifying really bad EQ and poor sound. Do not do it.

PAC - like you said lose fading, and still amplifying a poor HU. 2nd best choice

Replace head unit - you have all this gear to improve sound yet you are keeping a weak link. This is your best choice to improve sound.

Thanks for the reply, I know the difference, the EQ I am putting in has an aux input as well, so my iphone/ipod/ipad will go into that and it will bypass the main stereo, but I still want the Stock head unit for the Sat radio and reg radio which is not high quality audio anyway so I do not care if it is coming from the head unit.

I contacted PAC and they said it will not work with the 2014, but I thought I read somewhere that it does.

Have you considered the Audison Bit Ten D?

Audison bit - bit Ten D

It's a digital/analog processor. It takes analog and digital input from multiple sources (oem or aftermarket head unit, AUX (iPod/iPad), Bluetooth), cleans the signal, EQs it and then outputs it to amps. The remote controls the volume, sub volume and has two EQ presets you can toggle through on the fly.

I plan on using it for an iPad Mini install with a custom dash mod but I'll use it with the stock head unit until I install the iPad.

Cream if the crop right there. Not cheap, and not easy to set up correctly but the best.

yeah I do not want to go that advanced, like I said most of the sound will be coming from my IPOD right into the EQ, but I still want to be able to use the radio every now and then.

Where would I connect the LOC to?

. The only channels that have full range sound are the front 2 AFTER the amp. It's a half ass way if doing it but if you insist on LOCs that's where you should connect.

Why not buy a PAC C2A-CHY23? It will give you preamp outs that can plug right into you EQ. At least the outputs won't have the factory EQ. You lose fading but who ever adjusts that after initial set-up anyway? I've heard some people suggest that you lose treble and bass control but your EQ will do that.
