Hi all! I just purchased a 2014 autodim mirror and harness. I have a 2012 JK. I was wondering if there was a way to install this. I know 2012 didn't come with them so it'll have to be modified unless there is a hidden plug I don't know about. Any ideas? I assume a constant power for the autodim and intermittent (dome lights) for the map lights, and ground obviously. Has anyone tried this? If so, where did you get your constant power from?

you want keyed power for the auto dim. you don't want it running while the jeep is off... no point and risk killing the battery.

With your help, I was able to complete the install.

For anyone wishing to do this mod, I had to tap into the keyed power wire running to the HVAC system. I cut off the white plug, extended all 5 wires (taped paper noting wire color combos at the end) and then tapped into the wires at the passenger footwell. Each color combo is there minus the black/white stripe wire, but that's just the ground. And the kind of reddish purplish wire with an orange stripe is the keyed power. Everything works just as it should now. So I'm here to tell you it can be done, but man is it a pain.

Did the 2012 or any other years have the lights on the mirrors but NOT the auto dim? I turn off the dimming function as soon as I start to drive my 2015.

The 2003-2006 Rubicons did. LED map lights and NO autodim.

Also, does your mirror have cool white LEDs in it? My 2014 mirror has warm white LEDs and they don't match my dome lights now, which makes my OCD go haywire. If so, I'd take yours off your hands if you get a different one.
