every budget speaker out there now comes from China. Hell, OEM wheels are made in China too. There's no getting around it.

I'm going to bump and old thread here, but did you happen to reference the actual size of the opening and the available mounting depth?

No not yet. I just got the adapter to add an amp to my system without having to cut factory wire harness. So my new sub should be going in soon if the weather holds up.

What adapter did you get? I'm looking to add an amp too.

I'll admit, a cardboard cone isn't the most desirable, but think about what its doing. It really doesn't need to be a more durable product. And the surround on it is pretty beefy. I have it too, and don't like it either. I'm going to spec out the box and see what kinda volume it has so I can know what type of aftermarket sub I can put in there and have it function decently. The mounting depth and hole size are by no means the only thing that should be looked at when installing a subwoofer. Due to the frequencies required, it is not like a HI. You MUST consider the enclousure as a vital part of the design.

And honestly, that Pac-Audio interface is the best way to do it without a lot of rewiring and crazyness. Unless you have an amp that has speaker level inputs...

I'm still shopping around for what I want to do. Instinct tells me to go with the JL ZR's or C5's... but... my wallet and their power requirement tells me otherwise.
