Default 2008 Rubi Starter Ground connector

Greetings All,

Replaced my starter for non-start issues to troubleshoot and rule out. When I removed the ground wire connection, the vinyl/plastic jacket was brittle and fell apart to exposed the bare connector. Can I replace and re-crimp a new connector(spade?) or do I have to replace the whole cable or is it not required for the starter to function? I've attached a couple pics as well.

Thanks!
Dee

Ok, I was wrong. This IS NOT the ground wire connection. It's the solenoid feed 'spade' connection. My bad, I was told to just tape it. Since I've replaced the starter, it's starting fine. I'll just have to tape up the solenoid feed connector.

Thanks All!
