SSB CB Radios
Ok, more questions for the experts here,
im looking at a new cb, the ssb options look to be the uniden bearcat 980, the Galaxy 959 and the president mickinley, the uniden I don't care for the display, the Galaxy I've heard drifts quite a bit on ssb, but the president I haven't found much about except from the people that sell them.
does anyone have much experience on a well made relatively easy ssb cb radio?
What is a good choice for todays radios?
I had a cobra 148 GTL years back and sold the truck it was in, the radio was the deal sealer on the truck, I should have kept both

Well, I ordered the uniden 980, Amazon just made it easy, lower price, then 70 bucks off for applying for their card, so the uniden 980 SSB CB was 59.00 after tax

President makes a good radio, they've been around for a long time and back in the heyday of CB were one of the better brands.
SSB is one of those things that you might not need it but when you do that extra bit of range might be a lifesaver, granted working a site in Puerto Rico might not be too handy in an emergency.....

Yeah, president is much better, I sent the uniden back after a couple of days and ordered the president McKinley. I should have done that to start with

Sorry you didn't have a good experience with the Uniden. I've been running the 980ssb nearly a year now, and it's been great. Sideband itself doesn't often have much frequent traffic, but when you catch the skip rolling hard, it can be a lot of fun. Give me a holler sometime -- Texas 275.
