Im thinking about mounting the base unit on the drivers side behind the rear seat.
This way its out of danger of getting water damaged.

X2 water in the floor board is bound to happen in a Jeep at some point!

Thats a given.
Thats why Im leaning more towards that location.
Or as one poster mentioned, under the steerring wheel.
I hadnt thought of there.

After seeing this thread revived, I moved my icom 2730 from under the seat and mounted under the steering column
