Mounting a radio under the seat
I'm thinking about either a Yeasu FTM-10R or Icom IC-208H, it seems everyone is mounting their base under the front seats. How are you guys securing the base down? Are you drilling into the floor, or are there bolts already there that can be used?

I found a bracket off a plumbing fitting and got hardware to fit it. I don't know what the fitting was called but it was for splicing into copper pipe.. it's been in my garage for years and I'm not sure where it even can from.

Do you use an auto-tuner? If so, may I ask where you mounted it? Thanks!

FWIW, Mounting under the seat would be a good location.
My thinking is that should the Jeep get flooded, the radio would be compromised.
Im thinking about mounting the base unit on the drivers side behind the rear seat.
This way its out of danger of getting water damaged.

Another good location to mount a radio with separation kit is under the steering wheel, behind the snap off plastic panel. I mounted an ICOM IC2720 there and had no problems with it.
