Default How would you setup for CB...

I'm in a bit of a pickle. The garage for my apartment is pretty low, I was already worried a stock JK wouldn't fit. The roof on the front of the garage is only ~80 inches high, so any CB antenna would need be under that (rather not have it flexing daily, and waking against my new hardtop.

I was doing some measuring and it looks like the 3 foot Firestick might barely fit (by as much as under the roof by .5 an inch!) but what I can't tell is does the length include the mounting end of it? I was looking to mount it behind the spare tire, I think it'd be a bit of a theft deterrent, and I don't want to use a quick-disconnect...

Can anybody measure with the height? Preferably with TF tire mount!

I called and emailed Ultra mount and haven't heard a word back in 3 days...

The CB I have is the Midland Handheld/In-car, so it should be a pretty easy install, route the cable threw he roll cage, and down into console...

*Update*
Oh my first post here

Welcome to the forum.
I think you will be higher with the TF mount.
IV got the Ultra Mount on mine and from ground level to the tip of my antenna is 7'.
Im also running a 4' antenna, so if you were to use a 3', it might work out for you.
Hope this helps.

Something to keep in mind is you can mount the tailgate bracket with the antenna attachment at the top or at the bottom. That makes a good difference in height.

My plan is to go with the 3 ft and the quick disconnect so I can store the antenna under the rear storage hatch lip.

Well, I don't have a tailgate mount, but I'll share anyway, as you may need some alternatives to meet your height requirements.

I just recently installed the Cooltech Ultramount to my license plate holder. I'm running the 3 ft. firestik firefly, with the quick disconnect which adds 2 1/2 - 3" to the overall length, and the tip of my antenna is sitting exactly 3" above my hardtop.

I'm running 315/70/R17 tires and OME HD coils and from the ground to the tip of my antenna is exactly 80 inches, the height of your garage. So assuming you're running a stock set up, you would have more then enough room to run this particular scenario.

**oh, and welcome to the forum!!**

The mount where it's on the license plate, doesn't the antenna have a habbit of hitting the body?

Otherwise I see they have a 2 foot firestick, would that actually get any range or be a silly endeavor?

Hey OP...you can buy a quick dissconect fitting for you antenna, this way its never an issue, well unles you forget to take it off. Firestick sells these. Good luck.

As I mentioned didn't want a quick-disconnect. I think it's pretty fun to even do daily driving with the CB on, plus I would most definitely forget every morning when I'm stumbling to head to campus from lack of sleep. I think the 3 foot would work, mounted on tire mount with bracket on the lower part of the tire carrier if it doesn't work on the upper.

A Cool Tech gatemount, installed upside-down, no quick-disconnect, and a 3' Firestik Firefly is about the same height as my soft top.

Installed a Cobra 29 LTD BT 40 channel cb radio with a 4' Firestik antenna mounted off the back of the license plate. Cable runs along the edge under the carpet wiu the rest of the auxiliary cables.

Thanks everyone! I appreciate all the options/pictures, looking like upsidedown gatemount for me, but I'll wait till ludski's pictures to figure out the antenna height! The license plate just isn't my favorite spot to put it. How much cable should I get to run it over the roll-bars?
