CB mount on the back of the rear seats?
I've been thinking for a few days how to mount my new Cobra 29... really wanting to keep it as clean and unobtrusive (stock) as possible.
-Didn't want to go over the factory stereo - won't be used that often;
-under the seats - will use it more often than that;
-the Tuffy overhead or center console replacements look decent, but are a little on the expensive side.
-I liked the idea of mounting it behind the center console - but it seems like that would interfere with the folding rear seats.
So... i just had a bit of an epiphany - what about attached to the 60 side of the 60/40 split rear seat? Underneath that seat cover is a nice solid metal back that I can screw the mounting plate to, and it's infinitely closer to the antenna in the rear - just a slightly longer run for the power cable. Then it would be in roughly the same position as mounting it to the back of the console, except level instead of vertical.
Option two might be to mount it more behind the passenger seat, angled towards the driver.
Makes sense to me - any opinions from the peanut gallery before I start drilling and screwing next weekend?

mine is maybe 2" thick. You will have to remove to fold seat down. not a big deal to unscrew from bracket and unplug wires and antenna.
