454 is not only a game round, it's a large game round - grizzly bear, moose, etc. I've owned a 454 Ruger Alaskan, and I'm pretty sure if I'd fired it without hearing protection I would have had significant, permanent hearing loss. At the range, the percussion blast from the muzzle would tear down my target and those in the adjacent two lanes if they were too close. I can't fathom firing it from a vehicle or in a small enclosed room. Even with hollow points that bullet is going to kill anything behind your target, too. I kept mine loaded with Corbon DPX in 45 Colt - it has impressive specs that are probably right at the border of being safe for CC.

Back on track...wife with my first carry pistol. Kimber Ultra Carry. Hated that damn thing

Yeah, I didn't care for mine either. It's too short. I also tried one of the Sig 1911s in commander length with the officer grip but it didn't balance well to me.
