like i hinted at before, sig doesn't make junk, so you will be sure to get a good quality gun--you just will pay a premium for it. i doubt you will be unhappy with it. as far as parts go, sig is so entrenched in law enforcement and military circles, that the parts will be sure to follow soon. if that's what you like, get it and be patient on the parts...

Will I have to buy all the parts separate or do you think theyll let me build it in the store?

no, you will buy one complete gun, either by ordering one or buying what is on the dealer's shelf. it is not until you want to change what you have (caliber, barrel length, trigger type, etc) that you will have to order the appropriate part. if you already know you will want to have more than one "gun" with this, you should call sig and ask what the availabilty is on the items you want.

If you really want a SIG 9mil, and don't think you are going to need to hold off hordes of zombies, and think a new SIG is a little pricey, there are some really great prices on German Police trade ins on the SIG P6. They are in decent shape, I think they are coming with 3 mags and a holster. They are only 7+1, but A SIG for around $250-300 is a good buy.

Sig Sauer makes a very good quality gun and any model you get would be a good investment in your personal safety and a fine product.

I wound up getting the Glock 23 40 s&w. A lot cheaper. It was sold to me as "used", but I could tell it really wasnt.
