I have this rifle and i love it. When I first bought it I was looking for something I could shoot all day and not break the bank. Got it for about $350. Not to mention shoots straight as sh!t. Can't beat it.

I was gonna say Rock River but I don't know if they sell neutered versions for either of the coasts.

I know if I moved to NJ w/my collection they'd throw me in jail and throw away the keys.

In TX it's no problem.

Good luck!!

yea , I don't agree with any of our gun rights being striped.....I don't vote for the ANI-GUN idiot's. A bunch of B.S. if you ask me I have and own one of the so called "EVIL RIFLES", as they would call them in our state....but their is a few little mods we have to do in order for them to be legal. Thanks to the Clinton's they were completely banned for a while in CA.

As far as the OP.......I would recommend taken the time and doin your home work, to see what your style is. This platform is the most versitale platform you can buy. Build your own!good luck

I use and own a S&W for work and sport. I love it. I have only fired about 3000 rounds through it but I have never had a malfunction.

See if you can get out there and shoot a few. Always a good time

I agree with ^^^^

If you're just plinking go for a .22
Cheap and fun as hell to shoot. I'm thinking about getting myself one for christmas. But I'm leaning a little more towards a pistol...

Hey I looked at the code again, and you're right. You can own one as long as it doesn't have certain features:

i. A semi-automatic rifle that has the ability to accept a detachable magazine and has at least
two of the following:
(1) A folding or telescoping stock;
(2) A pistol grip that protrudes conspicuously beneath the action of the weapon;
(3) A bayonet mount;
(4) A flash suppressor or threaded barrel designed to accommodate a flash
suppressor; and
(5) A grenade launcher;

This is the full link I found: ht t p://www.nj.gov/njsp/info/pdf/firearms/062408_title13ch54.pdf

You said you don't want to build one, so here's a pic of the Mossberg Modern Rifle Hunter. It fits the bill it seems- fixed stock, no flash hider or threads, and no bayonet mount.

Sorry to hijack about the rules. I hope you get one you like.

Just throw on a bullet button and you will be OK. The main thing about California is the removable magazine. Shit my little bro has a bullet button on his "loose" and if a range master or whatever comes by and asks anything , he can discreetly tighten it.

I've got no complaints on the M&P 15. Bought it from a gun show for $850.00 with just a rail, not even so much as iron sights. Bought a cheapo "red dot" for it and thats it. First couple hundred rounds were all wolf crap, re pacs and tracers, not one problem.
