I just ordered a stripped lower from rguns for $75 shipped. delton has kits starting at $419 + s/h for a basic A2 style and goes up. If you shop around you can build one for around $500.

I've priced the kits vs. individual parts and you really come out better buying the kits unless you want something special.

AR15.com is a great resource for DIY'er. There's even a youtube vid on the assembly of the lower, which is "hardest" part of a build.

Good luck

I finally pulled the trigger so to speak.
I bought the new Ruger SR-556 piston driven AR rifle. Man it is nice. I think after running this for a while I will tackle building one.
A little front heavy but it really had a lot going for it right out of the box. Troy Sites, Chrome-Lined barrel, Troy rails, MAGPUL mags etc.
I have added an eotech site and some extra mags and a V-Line safe to keep it handy per the wife wanting it at the ready instead of down in the big safe in the basement.

20lbs box with 500 rounds of amo via UPS my wife thinks I am nuts.

Thanks for all the info guys.

Very nice. I just got a CMMG. I like that front grip is it the one that has feet like a bipod?

Thanks. Yes it has the push button that springs down the feet. It works great. It's not made for combat but it's rugged enough.

Very nice AR!
