That just tells you how comfortable mountain lions are becoming when they would take down a deer in the middle of a road, in front of a vehicle. Talked to a california Fish and Game Biologist, and he told me on average a mountain lion will take down 1.5 deer per day. There is over 9000 mountain lions in the state of California based on their finding. That's allot of deer. Cool video. No wonder hunting is getting bad.

Seen one cougar attack on a deer on my parents farm one time....sitting watching out the window & having a coffee with my dad and out come 3 deer white-tail deer full throttle!!!! Then behind them a big tom cougar....as they got to the barb wire fence...one deer hesitated just a second and the lion jumped on it's back and grabbed it by the throat and the chase was over!!!....It was fast just like that video.

I wish we had it on video...but it happened so damn fast! Cougars are getting more domesticated...as I am seeing more around our neighbourhood...easy prey for the cougar with household cats, smaller dogs and the deer wandering around. You are also, hearing more and more Cougar attacks on humans (joggers, bikers & hikers).

Yeah, no need for female Viagra.
Those cougars are getting pretty brave.
Why couldn't they be so when I was a young, single fella?

In California we can not get tags to hunt cats due to protection laws. About 10 years ago it was on the ballot but was shot down. It's gonna take a child getting killed and a big hipe on the news in order to make it legal in our area to start controlling the problem. In California the cat problem is getting out of control.

Sorry if I sound like a jerk, but that is absolutely ridiculous. There is no way a cougar kills and eats 1.5 deer per day. Are these 10 pound deer? I would kill a deer eat on it for a day or two and SLEEP, A LOT. I mean it is an apex predator but no way it eats that much. That would be like it's own body weight or more EVERY DAY. In reality, a large deer would probably last an individual cougar up to two weeks. Of course, it would kill more for young, etc. With enough deer around it may kill a deer every 2-3 days just for itself.

No I did not take it as you sounding like a jerk in any way. I agree with your statement for the most part, it does sound like a lot. Maybe once per week. Our California Fish and Game Biologists are idiots. They don't manage are deer herd very well. I was just stating what he told me whether it is believable or not.

Ya if 1.5 deer are killed a day, and that's the AVERAGE....that means 1/2 the time the cat will kill 3 a day? Uh-huh....
