Default ccw pistol advise

a buddy just let me know he was going to thin out his collection,, having some cash issues.. Has a PT 145 he has used as a ccw and now has a kimber ultra compact 1911. He told me I could have it for like $200,, good ccw for that $? I told him to bring it up.. He lives about 1.5 hrs south,, has a vacation home next to my house.. I keep an eye on it for Him.. Also told me I could have his rem 700 in .308 for $400 with a Leupold scope.. $200 without.. I'm trying to get both..I already have my CCW so dont have to worry about that part..

that 700 is a tack driver especially with a leupold scope. I could not pass that deal up ever.

I personally wouldn't stake my life on a Taurus of any kind, but that's not a bad price. The Remington, on the other hand, is something you should not pass up.

For those prices I wouldn't pass up any of them!

Robar, do you have bad experience with Taurus? Just curious because I've never had anything but positive with them.

Yes, I have seen a couple different Taurus' fail in the range. If they can fail on the range then they can fail on the street. Taurus makes copies of other fine firearms, but does not always copy the quality. Although I think $200 for a plinker is OK, I wouldn't carry it if my life depended on it.

I would not sleep on the Rem. 700 in .308 and as far as thr Kimber for that price that's a great # too. How does Taurus come into play ? Did I miss something ? Either way I agree Taurus is just a FOrger of fine firearms. Enough Said !

His friend is selling the Taurus PT145 for $200, not the Kimber.

Ok, I understand why you feel that way now, and after that I would feel the same, too.
I haven't used a lot of Taurus stuff but I do have one and have shot some others... so far so good! They aren't my carry guns though... I keep some primo ones for that.

The kimber is the sellers new piece,, the taurus is what he is selling for the $200.. He should be up in the next week or two so I can get some range time on them.. I'm taking the rem 700 for sure but will see how the taurus shoots..
