best 357/38 sp revolver
Honest opinions please.
Looking to pick up a nice revolver. Like the title says I am thinking the classic 357 mag that can also shoot .38 for when I go to the range (read cheaper, and easier on the hand) so what is everyone's opinion?
Not looking for a ccw, so I am thinking medium frame with a 4" barrel. S&W 686? Ruger GP100? Any thoughts are really appreciated.

Years ago I was lucky enough to shoot a friends nickle plated 357 Colt. It was one of the sweetest shooting guns I've ever shot. And boy could he shoot the hell out of it....

I am fond of Taurus revolvers. They are made in Brazil and aren't as "famous" as other brands, but in my experience they make fantastic quality firearms, cost less than other brands, and they have a great lifetime warranty and customer support.

thanks for the info. I will look into both of those. Although to be honest, I am leaning towards the Ruger. I am not sure why, but I just really like Ruger firearms. I have a 10/22 and it is an awesome little gun, but besides that I don't know why I lean towards the Rugers naturally. Thanks again.

S&W 686 all the way. Had one since '95. Love it. It is my trail gun. Got a cross draw westen holster/belt for it. When I go riding atv or horse its with me. I got the 6".... very sweet shooting.
All .357 revolvers will shoot 38s. The .357 is just the magnum of the .38. I've always wondered why any one would buy a .38 only.
.357 caseing is just 1/10" longer that a .38.
The reason for the different number is the caliber was measured at the O.D. of the caseing when the .38 was invented. By the time the .357 came around (early 1940s) the industry measured just the bullet.
