I have AK47's AR15's and numerous hand guns. I don't hunt I just like to shoot things and blow them up like Bowling ball's etc. My bedside gun is a 44 mag and an AK47, just in case of a home invasion....just hoping.

The Grambo story is a great example actually of showing that our criminals are largely unarmed, how would a version of this in other countries look when Granny puts herself against 2 felons who are also armed?
Unfortunately as much as it would be a good story the "Rambo Granny" that apparently did this in when ahe was 81yo in August 2008 also did the same when she was 81yo in 2004 and 81yo back in 2000, it's another work of fiction. A simple google search reveals how sheeple keep spreading something because they wish it to be true rather than remotely checking the information, they and many here take it hook, line and sinker. I wonder how many believe the one telling us Port Arthur didn't happen, it was all a govco fabrication to disarm us.

Here is some non fiction work from the Australian Gov, I bet it won't get passed around as much as all the Australian "disarmanent disaster" stories.

"This report presents findings from and an overview of key characteristics of the 18th annual collection of homicide data (2006-07), the most comprehensive collection on homicide in Australia, including details on victims, offenders, and incident circumstances. Australia wide, 260 incidents of homicide occurred in the year, taking 266 victims and involving 296 offenders. This was a decrease of 23 incidents and 45 victims from the previous year and is consistent with a significant long-range trend toward fewer incidents both per capita and absolutely since inception of the NHMP. In that period, male offender rates have fallen from a peak of 3.8 per 100,000 to 2.3 per 100,000, and female offender rates have remained relatively unchanged at around 0.5 per 100,000. The 2006-07 data also reflected the general trend toward a lower proportion of homicides using firearms (11%) and a higher proportion using knives and other sharp instruments (44%), respectively the lowest and highest proportions to date since monitoring began and in contrast to a maximum proportion by firearm of 29% in 1993 and a minimum by knife and other sharp instrument of 30% in 2000."

The above paragraph from the same sight tells us crimes using firearms are dropping as a percentage of crimes anyway if not as a percentage of population as it also shows on the same site.
So if Australia truely does have a higher homicide per person rate than the US, why is it we don't see it happening around us, Maybe 319-386 homicides a year just isn't noticable to us, that's around one person per day, I suspect your figures make this look pretty low. As a percentage of population we have gone from 1.91% to 1.85% homocides. Our population is increasing yet our homicides are dropping slightly, are the US figures of sharp instruments vs firearm homicides similar? Interestingly our handguns vs rifles has been rising, as rifles were the majority of weapons handed in of course handguns were restricted long before most longarms. So I suspect a number of rifles that were handed in would have been used in homocides, though maybe handguns are becoming more common too. Overall the figure suggest to me the number of people being killed is being controlled better by some means and those who are killing people are turning to usage of non-firearms due to their availability being limited, and hence because a lot of attempted homicides don't involve firearms they are less likely to be successful. Assualt seems to be climbing unfortunately, but the homicide rate hasn't followed it, attempted homicides or serious assualts that would have been homicides if the offenders had a gun would be interesting to see. As would some way of working out what percentage of criminals are armed for comparison.

The Rambo Granny of Melbourne, Australia

Gun-toting granny Ava Estelle, 81, was so ticked-off when two thugs raped her 18-year-old granddaughter that she tracked the unsuspecting ex-cons down - - and shot off their testicles.

The old lady spent a week hunting those men down -- and when she found them, she took revenge on them in her own special way, said Melbourne police investigator Evan Delp. Then she took a taxi to the nearest police station, laid the gun on the sergeant's desk and told him as calm as could be: 'Those bastards will never rape anybody again, by God.'

Cops say convicted rapist and robber Davis Furth, 33, lost both his penis and his testicles when outraged Ava opened fire with a 9-mm pistol in the hotel room where he and former prison cell mate Stanley Thomas, 29, were holed up.

The wrinkled avenger also blew Thomas' testicles to kingdom come, but doctors managed to save his mangled penis, police said. The one guy, Thomas, didn't lose his manhood, but the doctor I talked to said he won't be using it the way he used to, Detective Delp told reporters. Both men are still in pretty bad shape, but I think they're just happy to be alive after what they've been through.

The Rambo Granny swung into action August 21 after her granddaughter Debbie was carjacked and raped in broad daylight by two knife-wielding creeps in a section of town bordering on skid row. "When I saw the look on my Debbie's face that night in the hospital, I decided I was going to go out and get those bastards myself 'cause I figured the Law would go easy on them," recalled the retired library worker. "And I wasn't scared of them, either-- because I've got me a gun and I've been shooting' all my life. And I wasn't dumb enough to turn it in when the law changed about owning one."

So, using a police artist's sketch of the suspects and Debbie's description of the sickos', Tough-as-nails Ava spent seven days prowling the wino-infested neighborhood where the crime took place till she spotted the ill fated rapists entering their flophouse hotel.

I knew it was them the minute I saw 'em, but I shot a picture of 'em anyway and took it back to Debbie and she said sure as hell, it was them, the oldster recalled.

So I went back to that hotel and found their room and knocked on the door and the minute the big one, , opened the door, I shot 'em right square between the legs, right where it would really hurt 'em most, you know.

Then I went in and shot the other one as he backed up pleading to me to spare him. Then I went down to the police station and turned myself in.

Now, baffled lawmen are trying to figure out exactly how to deal with the vigilante granny. What she did was wrong, and she broke the law, but it is difficult to throw an 81-year-old woman in prison, Det. Delp said, especially when 3 million people in the city want to nominate her for
Mayor
Does this sound like fiction to anyone else. I'm all about having guns, but quoting an obviously stylized and made up story to support it is...............never mind its the internet, what the hell.

All the way from melting my own lead and casting my own bullets to shooting targets at the range to carrying my concealed weapon..

Not only do I like handguns but I also have to have at least 2 holsters for every handgun. One pistol I have 4 holsters for it. Of course that's my off duty weapon so I can justify it to my Wife.
