As far as reloads- lake city is definately not reloaded but I know lucky gunner and aims used to sell reloaded bulk from Companies that used once fired lc brass.

What he said....

Also, sometimes the casings look like that when the anealer guys don't have the machine adjusted correctly.

But JKRescue08 got the heart of what I meant, that it had been reloaded brass from the distributor.

Most of my Brass rounds have come from Lucky Gunner now that I think about it.

I buy the 5.56 855 bulk as well.

Thousand rounds for cheap, since its usually just target practice.

I buy the nice 223 stuff to keep in the mags at home. Pmc or the softy rem defense rounds. Gun store in town has pmc, twenty for $6. Hours are really inconsistent, but hit them up early and pick up 500 for $125.

Thats a cash only discount, when in stock.

Sometimes I'll drive all the way up there and they're closed. Mom and pop shop thats been open for almost thirty years. They close at random times, random days, but for the cost its kind of worth a little headache.

When they are closed I head over to sports authority, twenty for 8 bucks but always in stock. Haven't bought there in a bit. The cost assuredly has increased, last thing I bought there was .40s and it was 17 bucks for 50.

Thats to be expected when the us armed forces buys 500000000 rounds at a time

Yep, that and those who think the economy is going to collapse and are trying to store thousands of rounds, only to leave them behind cause they can't carry it lol

Our sports authority sells to all the police officers here since they are now required to buy their own range ammo. Prices are ridiculous for everyone else.

Our Walmarts have been out of stock of all.223 except the ballistic silvers for $28 for 20.

i jeep min 1000 rounds in the safe and a 5 mags loaded, if you just replace what you use at the range every time you go it speads the cost out over a long time...

My estimated Ammo Inventory

1000+ .223
1000+ 9mm
300+ .380
200+ .45
200+ 12 gauge small game load.

My buddy has over 10000 rounds for his Mousin Nagan and another 10k in 7.62x39

I only wish I could stock pile gas. Im not a doomsdayer just looking to buy now and save later when prices go through the roof.

That discoloration comes from anealing the round and has nothing to do with whether a round has been fired befrore or not. Anealing is the process of heating the brass before its loaded but after it is formed to soften the brass back up. If you look at any brass case that is bottle neck you will see the same type of discoloration.

Part of the reason 233/5.56 is getting more pricey is that the Military is grabing all they can to the point Lake City can't keep up and so the military has been going to other contractors to fill orders (ie WCC or Western Cartrige Company)
