1911 in 9mm?

I would choose the .45ACP in a steel framed 1911 over a 9MM in an aluminum frame. The recoil will be about equal due to the weight difference and the steel frame will live far longer than any aluminum frame if you shoot a lot. Just my opinion if it were my money.

Other then appearance why do you want to trade one 9mm in for another one.
Personally I wouldn't trade the Glock 17 in for another 9...
If you are trading, trade up to the full size .45. Trust me you will not be disappointed... For example the Springfield Loaded 1911-A1 is an amazing pistol.

well i think i am going to go with a Kimber Stainless II instead of the Tactical II. if i am going to use it in competitions, i think i need to stay away from the aluminum frame. still looking at 9mm.
i may keep the glock for a house gun instead of trading it.

If you're going to use it in compitition, a 9mm would be fine.
If you're talking defense, the .45 has the hit and knock to the ground now power that the 9mm does not have.
But I must agree a 9mm in a 1911 instead of a .45 is blasphemy.

No offense but if you shoot competitions, you should know a 9mm is not the gun you use for home defense if you own a .45.
