Default Sign in the yard

From a guy in Florida :

My neighbor is a "lefty" of sorts (Obama bumper stickers, gung-ho
Socialized Medicine, "guns should be banned", etc.). So this past spring
I put this sign up in my yard after one of his anti-gun rants at a neighborhood
Cocktail party.

The sign wasn't up more than an hour before he called the police and wanted
them to make me take down the sign. Fortunately, the officer politely informed
him that it was not their job to take such action without a court order and that
he had to file a complaint "downtown" first, which would be reviewed by the
city attorney to see if it violated any city, county, or state ordinances, which
If there was a violation a court order would be sent to the offending party
(me) to "remove the sign in seven days."

After several weeks he was informed that the sign was legal (by a quarter
of an inch) and there was nothing the city could do, which obviously made
him madder. I tried to smooth things over by inviting him to go shooting
with me and my friends at the hunt club but that seemed to make him even
more angry. I then asked him if he wanted to go to a Tea Party Rally but
again he declined my outreach efforts to bring about a better understanding
between political and social opponents. I am at a loss how to reconcile our
long relationship (notice I did not say friendship), any suggestions would be
welcome.
Maybe I'll ask him if he wants to go deer hunting, which opens up November 1st,
you know, just a bunch of guys running through the woods chasing Bambi,
then sitting around the campfire roasting marshmallows and singing our favorite
country songs to the accompaniment of Jake's harmonica (he is a better lawyer
than a harmonica player but don't tell him I told you). I even made him a bumper
sticker and that made him madder than he already was!

Anyway, that's life in our neck of the woods, how about yours?

My mom recently moved just north of chicago and before she left I got her a .38 revolver (snub) full of +p+ .38 hollow points. She is not anti-gun but not ready to say she could shoot someone. I quickly explained to her that her keeping this weapon and knowing how to use it will insure my sanity. If someone were to rape and kill her I would go out of my tree. She is a dead on shot, I feel sorry for anyone who forces her to shoot. It took me years of arguing before she agreed with me. I think the turning point was that woman in oklahoma who called the cops cause some guy was trying to get in her house and she was on with 911 for like 26 minutes and the cops still didnt get there. She shot and killed the guy as he came through a window. I made her listen to the 911 call and it opened her eyes a bit. I sure don't want to shoot anyone, but I have a gun beside me all the time.

LOL thats kinda messed up. but i support the same things that the armed guy supports. so more power to him. as far as putting that the home owner is not armed on blast is kinda scary.

love the yard sign...

Why do I carry? So I have a fighting chance when that day comes. Much rather have a gun and not need it then need a gun and not have it!

Default There are some messed up people in this world...

I don't know if you've guys have seen or kept on track with this article on CNN but its pretty messed up to say the least what some people think of in this world.

h t t p://www.cnn.com/2010/CRIME/10/05/connecticut.murder.trial/index.html?hpt=T1&iref=BN1

One might wonder now if the father had had a gun by his night stand if his family would still be alive and his house not burned to the ground.

I for one am a proud gun supporter and will always be. My dad and I have actively competed in local shooting competitions and I think its a great way to become closer with someone else. But as well its a great way to become more friendly with your best friend, in my case a Remington 870 pump shotgun with 3 three inch deer slugs right next to my bed waiting for any person who tries to harm myself or anybody in my house.
