White Cloud Trail Run
#21
Ok Guys, time to get serious about this trail ride.
I'm in and looks like RedWingsFan is in also. But we need more than two of us for a fun run.
So lets get a list on who is in.
I am assuming that itsarubiconday is currently the man in charge so far as it was his idea
We also need to know some coordinates on where we are meeting and so on as the drive for me and RedWingsFan is about 160 miles or 2 1/2 hours.
itsarubiconday, do you have any info on the trail conditions as to snow depth and or anything else.
Does anyone have a link on the trails so we can print out some topo maps.
Later
Don

I'm down for some trails! I'm still a noob and all stock but I'll do what I can. I live in Fremont which is 15 minutes from WC if I drive slow. I've been out in the area your talking about a time or two but not enough to say I know the trails. As for a meeting place Charlie's Pub is right there in the center of "town" and would be an easy meeting place with space for a few rigs.
Please shoot me a PM with details or if I can help with anything since I'm right here.

It can be, it wasn't to bad the times I have been out. The snow sticks around longer in the woods though so there is potential for muddy and slippery spots. Like I mentioned I'm all stock on my "S" package unlimited X but I'm proud to say I never got stuck on any of the runs where as some of the more heavily modified rigs did. Not being at the end of a long line of rigs helped though.
Might be good to do some scouting out or a pre-run. I would whole heartedly offer to do it but I'm not familiar enough with the trails and not comfortable going out with just one vehicle.

I am so happy to see all of you West Michiganders crawling out of the woodwork all of a sudden!!!--I've been jonesin' to hook-up with some "locals" so to speak. not much around here. On short notice, I'm pretty much useless, but I would love to be in the "clique" if y'all'd have me!!!I've noticed the Great Lakes forum is pretty weak right now, but I see the G.L. nation building !!!

Sounds great to me! I'd love to get out with you guys. I know there are so many nice areas to go exploring right around me, but being a noob I won't go out on my own. I got a tow strap for Christmas LOL don't leave home without it! If we go out I'll try and have something setup to record our tracks.
I'm actually free most weekends if someone wants to go out and do some novice trails.

Glad you mentioned that! I need a new sticker also... Why would it only be good until 3/1? I just had my wife pick one up for me last year and it was good all year. Or do you mean the 08 sticker is good until 3/1 ?? I need to look at mine and see what it says LOL.
The first time I went out I did not have a sticker and was with a pretty big group...I just wasn't thinking about it but I wouldn't go without one especially in a small group where we may be more apt to be inspected. I am NOT speaking from experience but it just seems a DNR would be more likely to check a smaller group, maybe the size makes no difference to them.

Your link was removed and changed to a MI page to buy kill tags
I didn't get a chance to see the previous link maybe PM it to me. I don't know all the in's and out's of where you need an ORV sticker I thought any state land...I'll probably get the 09 sticker if its available.
This copied from a section on the michigan.gov page talking about ORV:
Also known as off-highway vehicles, this classification includes off-road motorcycles, three-, four-, and multi-wheeled all-terrain-vehicles (ATVs), air (hovercraft) and tracked ATVs, and off-road utility vehicles. All ORVs must be titled. Any on-road vehicle may be registered as an ORV. Dual registration is permitted. One-year ORV license is issued by the Department of Natural Resources (DNR)expires March 31. Fee- $16.25. If used exclusively on private property, an ORV may not require an ORV license.

Clear as the stuff we'll be running through! This weather and talk about going out for a ride has me excited I do a lot of running between buildings and with the warm weather there are big water spots...I'm proud to say that on my last run...I went through every one of them.
