Default Recovery Techniques Training

After Saturday's accidents I was thinking that I would like to get some hands on recovery training to learn how to properly winch and recover a stuck or rolled vehicle. Would anyone else in the Phoenix area like to go through something like this? if so, post up and if you are expierienced and would like to help show us how it's done, please let me know.

If we have sufficient interest and someone that knows what they are doing, then I'll set a date to head out to Butcher Jones as that seems like the best place to do a training.

Thanks guys, I've added you to the list. I've asked the question on the VJC site to see if we can get someone expierienced out to teach us. They did indicate there is a class on 2/7 for basic techniques, but it's overall offroading and there are a lot of people attending. I was thinking something a little smaller in size and really just concentrating on recovery not general skills, there's many of us with those skills and can work on those anytime we go out.

No winch either, but I do have Hi Lift and tow straps so I want to learn how to use those until dreams of a winch on by bumper come true.

Thanks guys, list updated. I'll have my winch installed my the end of Feb. so we can practice with both winches and rescue straps. I might have someone willing to teach us, just need to sync up to get a date set.

I'd be interesting in this too. I know a fair amount, and have been involved in several recoveries... but you can ALWAYS learn more. I'd be happy to share my experiences and what knowledge I have, and look forward to hearing others'. I am going to the VJC 101/202/303 "classes" and will either do the 202 or 303 run. Joe, you're right that it is "all encompassing" not just recovery. Lance is going to do a 30 minute class on winching before the groups split up to their different levels though. Anything I learn there, I can pass along as well.

Great. I'd attend that class as well, but I have a scout event that day.

I'm very interested. I'll be there if its a day I can make it. I have lots of activities with my kids on Saturday mornings but Saturday afternoons and Sundays are always open for me. Thanks for thinking of this.
