Default Its not even hot yet

Well I do not Know who better to seek advice from about cooling issues than those of you that have the hottest ambient temps to deal with (I am about 10 to 20 cooler on average in the summer)

Went out Turkey weekend and after a long climb (in 2wd "drive"... not even close to needing 4wd but was slow) I received the hot oil warning. Cooled right off when I stopped etc. Not really worried but was frustrated at the time.

Different posts in the forum suggest different driving styles (4L 4H in 1st) etc

It was only about 70F that day.... whats going to happen when its 110F? (just bought my jeep at the end of summer). Will I need to invest in a tranny cooler just to enjoy my jeep this summer? Techniques that have worked in AZ? Recommended products?

Thanks in advance.

I have this same issue (2008 JKU). It seemed to start after the dealer did a bunch of recall work earlier this year. I read in another thread that there was a computer adjustment (recall work) that lowered the temp which now causes the warning notification. The work around I've found is to turn off the vehicle for a few minutes... then start 'er up and continue on. I've not had it re-occur. However, I'd be interested in a real fix as well... if there is one.

If you're interested. I have my old trans cooler I removed when I installed my supercharger. You will just need to buy a quart of ATF and about $6 worth of hose clamps and hose. I got the HOT OIL warning on mine a couple times, after the cooler, no issues even when towing above 95 degrees. Let me know.

A lot of guys installed a tranny cooler, I just downshift or run 4 low if it's a steep climb or very hot out. I also use Motor Kote in my eng, trany, power steering and in the diffs. It's a friction reducer. Does it work? Not sure, but I don't get the lights like everyone else. A night run in Aug most everyone had the eng light but not me! So I keep using it.
