Here is an update from my earlier post on the Sunflower project. I just got off the phone with a ranger from Tonto Forest Service. They are very excited to hear that some Jeepers from this forum might be coming up to help on Saturday June 16. They would like to have a rough head count because they are serving us lunch. So what I think that I will do is bump this post a time or two next week to see who of us are planning on going. I would like to go up as a group that morning. We could meet at the Bush Highway overpass on Highway 87 at 6:30 am. If you can't make it by that time, just come on up when your schedule allows. We will work most of the day, however you can leave whenever you have to. I think that most of us really value this area enough to be able to "give back" to the Forest Service. They are under funded and understaffed and they need our help.
On a similar subject, I asked if the Forest Service had any idea how long the area would be closed. This ranger told me that at least through the monsoon season this summer. After that, they will re-evalutate the situation and see how much damage and erosion has been done to the trails and the area in general.
So, again I hope that we can help out on Saturday, June 16. Have some fun and do some good for one of the Jeepin areas that we treasure.

Anyone interested in buying my rear bumper and tire carrier? It's a custom bumper by Crossed Up Offroad here in Tucson. It carries two Jerry cans, a high lift, cb antenna, and a cooler. All carriers are removable and the bumper is held on by 10 bolts, 8 in the frame and 2 in the rear cross member. I'll give u a more than fair price. PM if interested or call 520-647-4680
