Default Gear question...speak up CO'ers!

My "stock" 2dr has the basic 3.21 gears and climbing the CO mountain highways isnt that much fun with them. Sooo if I swapped them for some 4.10s (and eventually add 35s) will highway driving be doable or should I get the 4.88s?

Hopefully some of your CO'ers can give some input. As in what gears do you run with your lifts/tires.

Thanks!

I'm rockin' the 4:10's with the auto, 35's, and lots of weird german techno music.....

I actually think its manageable, the only aspect of it that I don't like is the pause before acceleration when you hit the gas hard to merge, or pass someone....

I might have just gotten lucky, I seem to pull away from the other dudes on the hill to the tunnel, but that only if I can keep my momentum up......

Oh, and I don't have any programmers or anything like that....Just huge beans!

I have a rubi with 410s, I have a cai, exhaust and a hypertech. I don't think it's too bad at all with 35s. I am going bigger soon and will be going 513 or 538 depending on how big I go

Any good local shops that installed your gears? If so, how much did they charge? I was thinking about buying someone's 4.10s on this forum but have no idea how much install would be. $200 for 410s sound like a good deal?

i have 410s and 35s. Ran up from denver to winter park many times. honestly its fine. yes your not in the far left lane flying up the mountain but if you keep your speed up and downshift when needed its totally fine. I pass people often enough and keep up with the speed limit for the most part.

living in the Mtns..and having 35's/auto/4.10s its not that bad...but i do shift it like a manual. i have it floored in 1st going over some passes. 4.88 would be perfect i think..the highway crusies nice but you almost have to keep it fast so its doesnt down shift around 65

just to let you know you will need a new carrier for the 4.10's or 4.88's going from 3.21's .........Northridge has them here http://www.northridge4x4.com/proddet...d=DANA-CARRIER
