CO Vacation Ideas. . .
I'm on vacation from July 18th - 23rd and had planned on heading to Ouray, CO (from MO) on the 18th, but we just found out the FJ group is having their 2nd annual summit there from the 16th-20th and have over 250 vehicles (and 500 people) registered, so we're going to wait and hit Ouray on the 21st.
I was thinking we might hit some trails north of I-70, but nothing in Charles Wells "Guide to Northern Colorado Backroads & 4-Wheel Drive Trails" book looks that exciting to me. What am I missing up there?
We been to the Colorado Springs area during the winter of '04 and the weather stopped us from completing Pikes Peak, & Mt. Baldy, so we're thinking of going there as a buddy lives in Canyon City, but we're not sure.
We also went to Ouray, Silverton, etc. last summer, so we're just going again as we didn't do Black Bear, and wanted to do Imogene Pass again.
Anyway, I figured I ask the locals if you had a couple days to blow before heading to Ouray, where would you go?
Thanks!
PS. We go to Moab every winter, and don't have the time to drive that far, so that's out of the question.

Well I have a summer home up in Lake City CO and as you know from being in ouray and other places near by how great it is up there. There are so many trails I cant even begin to start but I would recomend Stoney Pass, Black Bear, Cinnamon and Engineer pass for the views. I will be in Lake City from the 3rd of July until the 22nd so if you are around look for a white house on the south west side of town with a lifted yellow Rubi and a stock red rubi.
