You can rent Jeeps in Gunnison, Crested Butte, Leadvill (I think) and Ouray for sure. Some real scenic stuff around Ouray. Hancock Pass area is a real nice run. Oh yeah cover up that evap canister or move it too. Have fun you'll never want to leave I miss the heck out of it.
The weeks most certainly match up. I'll get back with you with the specifics, but we're basically there the first week of July, too. I do think I'll be moving that evap canister, for sure. I'm dying to hit those trails! I'll PM you soon.

What about Mount Antero? It looks like it's got some great scenery, but it gets up to around 13,800 feet elevation.

I just did Cinnamon Pass and it was awesome. Amazing views and clear for any 4x4.

We tried to go to Schofield out of Crested Butte, but no way. Way too much snow.

So we went to Chinaman's Gulch and had a blast. WE made it to the ROckpile/Waterfall area before we had to turn back due to the time of day. But it was a blast.

I will post pictures when I get back to Dallas, but I hope this helps.

I was going to suggest the Antero area since you have kids. I climbed it (on foot) last year and was thinking the whole time "dang, there's a lot of Jeep trails through here." The biggest thing to watch for is the width of the trails, especially with drivers coming at you from the opposite direction. Antero is a great mountain.
